New codex

I picked up the new Tyranid codex today, and it aint too bad, alot easier to use than the last codex which had things everywhere...

The only thing im not entirely sure on, do creatures have a limit on biomorphs? The last codex made it clear they did, but this codex (from my multipe quick reads) doesnt seem to mention anything (that ive yet to notice).

PS Ill post a more useful post later on.

The only thing that keeps me sane is the thought that my study just might be a tiny bit more important than having the codex at THIS moment because I would be reading it all day. So therefore it might just be good that I can't buy the codex yet.

And yesss I'm jealous!!!
*goes back to studying*

Heh Heh, well im glad your jealous, that was the idea :P

But i agree, its probably a good thing you dont own the codex just yet, so you can get these studies out of the way. However, i noticed you skipped over my last part about the Biomorphs. Do creatures like Hive Tyrants and Carnifii have limits on biomorphs? I had a quick count on some of the examples list, and i noticed that most dont go past 5 biomorphs (not including weapon ones).

Yeah..that was because: honestly I don't know how it works in the new dex. I've only read through the codex when I was in the store and didn't exactly pay attention to this because I was looking at everything else.
I could ask it on warpshadow..and have the answer in a couple of hours though.

Bah.. what good are you.. and you call yourself a tyranid player!!! :P

However, now that you mentioned Warpshadow, it would be greatly appreciated, as im not making a new account to ask ONE question..

stfu about the handy business already.

I just have two questions botu the dex:

1: is there a lot of fluff in there (gotta luv the fluff)
2: How sick are they?

handyman awaaaaaaay

The Angelus Sanctus said...

Hey! I aint the one who said Im good with my hands!! Got to hand it to ya though, its brought alot of chuckles :P

I havent read it from back to front, but the fluff section looks good. More details on some of the more common Hive Fleets, as well as some snippets of some lost fleets. But yeah, fluff wise, its good. The only one downside i dont like about the fluff is that unlike the previous codex, it hasnt gone off to suggest possible DNA sources.

How 'sick' are they? Not that bad actually. Looking quite balanced to me, although heaven forbid the day i see 'beardy' armies with like 2 hive tyrants and 5 carnies.. But yeah, they dont look that bad, looks good to me.

Why only 5 carni´s when you can get 6 ;).
Who needs synapse if you fill up the troops with genestealers.
Get some fast attack from either flying warriors (ooh synapse is back), raveners, or gargoyles.
I'd say we WILL see those armies if only just because it looks sickening. Don't think they will be effective enough though.

They´re just a bunch of oversized lobsters... Bring ´em on I say, my Fenrisian Wolves are fed up with the dry-dogfood. 8)

Seriously, it looks good. Stuff like extended carapace, which there was (almost) no reason to NOT take before are a little more tricky now.
The fluff is indeed good (Fenris is mention, about that Kraken(-s?) we slay for the cool Frost weapons and those other Lost Hive Fleets as TAS said. Much of it is old but still good.
I really look forward to crack them open with my cutlery...Er, power fists! ;)

Cheers!

Ourselves as nids don't mind dogs as food ;)
Any biomatter is biomatter.

Now now boys, lets not fight here :P Let the gaming table be your battle grounds, NOT my blog!!

I meant 6 Carnies, not 5, finger must have slipped when i was typing, as my hand skills are not that crash hot.. Heh Heh.

I agree that those types of armies may not necassarily be effective, but its a shame that the army can be constructed as so. I personally wouldnt do it, but oh well.

I liked the section on the lost fleets as well as the possible evolvement of severed tyranid creatures, such as the above mentioned Kraken. I thought it was a nice lil link and i quite enjoyed reading that lil box about it. I need to sit down and see what biomorphs id personally take as im not going the conventional 'Nid army.

Which reminds me, any answer about the biomorphs Arjan?

Haven't got around to searching Warpshadow if there might already be a thread there.

If I start a new thread while this issue already has been mentioned..they'll smack me around ;)
But I'll try to find out.

We are well under way of spamming comments again.

Check this link to get an answer to your Q:

The first answer says there is no max.

Yup, the spamming comments are back yet again. Now to see if we can beat 17.

Thanks for the answer. Should definitely be interesting to play around with for sure. Now the fun part is going through all the available biomorphs and see which ones i would use in my themed army.

Just look at it and say: EEEEP.
The thread on warpshadow with more of these pic links (just change the nrs) is about a guy who has turned the torso of the fex upside down.

spam spam spam.... I beat Rico's spammage the other day on TF ^^.

I am ashamed to say that the bugs are tempting me.... though I am also ashamed to say that the only thing saving me from such blasphemy is my empty wallet.. .......

the shame....

MWUHAHAHAHAHAHAH the blasphemy. A marine tempted by the Hive Mind.

Meh..I bought marines before you were tempted to buy nids...but ourselves just call that obtaining genetic material :P

Oi!

Haven´t really have had anything useful to add to this lobster-discussion, but, aren´t you tempted to start modelling your stuff, TAS..?
You did buy a battle force and a few more bitz earlier this year..?
I like the new Codex, have read it more and it seems great! I don´t get that whinge on Dakka..?
Some upgrades for the big lobsters were just too cheap before (extended carapace? Too cheap to not buy every time in my humble opinion!) but now it seems to be a little more fun, tricking them out...

We´re kicking off a City Fight campaign in a few weeks here, just 400p at the start, and one of my main-opponents are using the new ´nidz... (DG-Matte for your info, TAS) I´m probably using 13th Co. 8)

By the way, check out my Pbase, have some pics of the 13th Co. I bought off Jocke. :)

Cheers!

Hey Tobias,

Lobsters are cool hmmkeej:P
What is your alias on B&C? I'm not a member (what would a nid do on B&C normally) but I was looking for your battlereport and couldn't find it because I didn't know where to search except for Space Wolves.

Anonymous said...

Hi,

Wold Lord Duregar, there should be quite a few battle reports from me... 8) And I still think most of them are there.

Cheers!

Tobias

PS Lobsters are fine! ;) But where is TAS..? DS
